Our Easter Present: 20% discount for last minute diciders

At Easter, Mallorca is steeped in religious culture and the holy week (Semana Santa) leads up to Easter Sunday when songs of praise and lavish processions can be heard and seen all around the island.
On Good Friday visitors can watch the spectacle of the procession down the 365 steps from the chapel at El Calvario just behind the main square and parish church in Pollença
In Palma, see the play Via Crucis on the steps in front of the cathedrale on Good Friday. And visit the most important mess in Mallorca on Easter Sunday at Palma´s Cathedrale.

As Easter parades take place all over the island you may want to see the different types. In Palma (the island’s capital) they happen every day of the week leading up to Easter Sunday, starting from different churches all over the city; the largest one goes through the city streets on the evening of Good Friday.

Another interesting local tradition is the ‘Pancaritat’ – a huge meal hosted in the main squares of most towns and villages and is known as a ‘feast of charity’, where all can gather and share food together. Today, these mass picnics are more about locals getting together and as a visitor you may well be invited to participate, making it a good opportunity to meet and socialise with the locals.
